Across the International Bridge Grasp the Successful Life
------Briefly introduction to foreign exchange work of Xindu No. 1 Middle school
With the care and support of related departments of province, city and district, in line with the spirit of “Strengthening International Exchange, Revitalizing Xindu Education”, Xindu No. 1 Middle School has set up friendly exchange relationship with Japan, the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hang Kong, and other countries and districts since 1989. Since 1993, more than 400 students went to study abroad. The foreign affairs work of our school has been successful, greatly improved our social reputation, and made a very good base for our school to strive to become a famous Chinese school with international influence.
A. Students Studying Abroad. For the last 20 years, our school has had a friendly relationship with Hong Kong International School, German KAG Art School, Hwa Jung High School of Republic of Korea, Rockway Mennonite Collegiate of Canada, and so on. Every year some students go to study abroad.
B. Teachers and Students Exchanging in Foreign Countries We invite teachers and students from our partner schools for a short time during the winter vacation, summer vacation or Golden Week, which has deepened the friendship between our school and the friendly schools.
C. Employing Foreign Teachers. In order to allow our students to contact pure English, and learn western culture, we have employed foreign teachers from the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries. Their teaching time usually is half a year or one year. Besides teaching, the foreign teachers also organize English Corner and English club, and they take part in many school activities.
D. Teachers Further Studying Abroad. Teachers are key if students want to develop their talents. The school values training the teachers. There have been more than 10 teachers who have had further study in Canada, the USA, Singapore and the United Kingdom. They can provide better education after they finish studying abroad and come back to the school.
E. Receiving Visiting and Studying of Friendly Schools. We have not only received the leaders’ individual visit of partner schools. We have also received the students’ visits from German KAG Art School, Hong Kong International School, and Hwa Jung High School of Republic of Korea. Especially worth mentioning is the summer camp activities in our school with Rockway Mennonite Collegiate of Canada. Since 1993, the two schools have set up the friendly relationship, every summer; the school would arrange for 10 to 20 students to come to our school for a one-month summer camp. Till 2014, there have been 20 visits. During the exchange. The two schools have deepened understanding, promoted friendship, which has been a successful model in Sichuan education. They study Chinese culture, painting, music, dance, Taiji, Gongfu, cooking, Chinese chess, Majiang and Chinese in our school. They stay in our students’ homes on weekend, and visit Chinese sights.
F. Undertaking AFS International Project. Our school is one of the first three schools of the AFS International Project that Sichuan Province has developed. Until now, we have received 8 students from the USA, Germany, Italy, and Columbia for a one-year exchange. Four students in our school have been on exchange for one year in Italy, Austria, Germany, and Norway.
G. On Feb.23, 2008, the student Wang Yijie in our school and the three students from Beijing and Hong Kong were selected as “The World Environmental Protection Ambassador”, and took part in a meeting about environmental protection in the United Kingdom and Japan. He was accepted to study in University of Minnesota of the USA with high scholarship in 2009.
