Brief Introduction to Xindu |
Xindu is one of the districts of Chengdu, which is the capital of Sichuan Province in the southwest of China. It is located at the northern gate, 16 kilometers away from the center of Chengdu. Its population is about 620,000 and it covers 480 square kilometers of the land. It is a bright pearl of Chengdu Plains, the land of plenty.
Xindu has a history of 2,900 years. It is well known as the famous capital of Shu Kingdom.
Shengan Guihu Park is a historic relic. It is the place where the great scholar Yang Shen lived in Ming Dynasty. His assumed name was Sheng An and he was a Xinduer. He became Number One Scholar in the national examination at the age of 23. He was the teacher of the king. In Guihu Park early in the morning: birds’ songs and fragrance everywhere, fish playing in the pool, the old people performing a sword-dance, keeping away from the noise, how poetic and idyllic it is! There are flowers blooming all the year round: In spring Chinese wisteria sways with varied forms; In summer lotus look like going to drip with tender forms; In autumn orange osmanthus gratifies with grace; In winter proud plum blossom fills the sleeves with sweetness. It is a famous place of interest for people to enjoy fragrant sweet-scented osmanthus and lotus in the country.
Baoguang Temple, with a history of one thousand years, is one of the “Four Largest Buddhist Monasteries” in the drainage area of the Changjiang River. It has 500 world-famous and large-scale clay figurines of the powerful Arhats.
Xindu is one of the first open districts in the country, so it frequently contacts the places at home and abroad. Many famous enterprises at home and abroad come to the fragrant land. The non-profitable international organization—Asian Succor Center of Black Bear is located on the Pihe River in Xindu. The famous Giant Panda Research Center is just a few kilometers away from the center of Xindu.
The traffic of Xindu is very convenient. There are a few roads to Chengdu and it is about half an hour’s drive. It’s about half an hour’s drive to Chengdu Railway Station. It will take about an hour’s drive to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. There are a few railway lines passing through Xindu.
So people live happily in Xindu and Xindu will become more beautiful in the future.
